1.      Minutes from January 11, 2005 meeting were approved.

2.      Culminating Project:   John Van Haalen and Bob Best have both been working on the Culminating Project and they provided an update.  Becky Elmendorf has been hired by the district to coordinate efforts between all high schools.  The Culminating Project Resource Guide has been updated and a brochure on becoming a community advisor was distributed.  Currently, Sehome Juniors are submitting proposals.  The scholarly paper will be written in second semester Junior English classes.

There was discussion on how Sehome parents could be involved as community advisors.  It was suggested that information on becoming a community advisor be available at the March Open House.  Parents will also be encouraged to be part of the panels for presentations.

3.      Principal’s report:  Jim Kistner provided an update on the March Open House. He brought Site Council’s recommendations to staff.  Staff felt that it was valuable to have time at the Open House to talk individually to parents.  Parents will be divided into three groups.  One group will meet with administrators to discuss culminating projects and other issues, the second group will meet with counselors, and the third group will meet with teachers.  The groups will meet for about 40 minutes each and then rotate.  Parents who do not have time to meet will all of their students’ teachers will be encouraged to connect with teachers at a later date.

Jim announced to Site Council that he will be retiring at the end of the school year.  The committee members wished Jim the best in retirement.

4.      Counseling and PTSA reports will be given at next meeting.  Both Michelle Nilsen and Bobbie Jaffee were absent because they were attending focus group meetings on a revised five year strategic plan.

5.      ASB report:  Maddie Stockwell reported that the ASB has been very busy because it is Varsity Week.  She also described fundraising activities taking place for the junior and senior proms.

6.      Strategic Plan Process:  Jim Kistner reported that the district is revising the five year strategic plan.  Parents have been invited to be part of the process.
